White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia

White Sulphur Springs Real Estate

White Sulphur Springs has always been the place to live and visit for those seeking unparalleled access to nature’s beauty and the luxury of resort access. The home of the world renowned Greenbrier Resort, the county’s second largest municipality is undergoing rapid expansion as the secret of White Sulphur Springs charmed lifestyle begins to spread.

Today, the Greenbrier Resort is one of the country’s most luxurious places to spend time. The resort is listed as a National Historic Landmark due in part to its classic architecture and interior design. In 1992, the Washington Post newspaper revealed that the resort had been the site of the Emergency Relocation Shelter, which would have been used to protect the U.S. Congress from a nuclear attack during the Cold War. Now, the shelter is part of a popular public tour.

The resort is a catalyst in continued development in White Sulphur Springs. The recent addition of The Greenbrier Sporting Club, a 6,500 acre residential golf community that has 500 home sites within 16 neighborhoods, has attracted new business and opportunity to White Sulphur Springs. This development has world-class golf courses and stunning views of the Allegheny Mountains and has spurred the development of several new restaurants, night spots and art galleries within the town.

Like the rest of Greenbrier County, White Sulphur Springs’ outdoor recreation activities are world-class, too. Over 2,000 residents of White Sulphur Springs enjoy amazing golfing opportunities, including Oakhurst Links, the first established golf club in the country, where green fees include replica equipment. The Monongahela National Forest, Greenbrier State Forest, Lake Sherwood and Tuckahoe Lake are located in White Sulphur Springs, just a few examples of the ways residents take advantage of the numerous places to fish, hike and camp. Residents of White Sulphur Springs also have easy access to other outdoor adventures, including white water rafting, kayaking, snow skiing and much more.

Cultural and social activities also abound in this quaint resort town where stunning mountain views compliment a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. White Sulphur Springs hosts the annual West Virginia Dandelion Festival, where local businesses and restaurants support kid’s activities, contests, art and antique car shows, live entertainment and golf tournaments. In August, the Battle of Dry Creek is reenacted by Civil War enthusiasts.

The spectacular resources, low-crime rate, great schools and wonderful community of White Sulphur Springs is quickly becoming a shinning example of the best that mountain living offers.
