Ronceverte, West Virginia

Ronceverte Real Estate

Nestled between the Allegheny Mountains and the pristine Greenbrier River, lies a small town where hospitality and focus on family and community are as preserved and respected as its history. Ronceverte is a welcoming place where families and community thrive.

Incorporated in 1882, Ronceverte’s name is derived from French, meaning “brier green.” Founded on the basis of its large timber industry, Ronceverte respects its rich heritage through the preservation of its legacy and traditions. In fact, 120 acres of Ronceverte’s downtown area is a National Historic District, where the oldest building stretches back to 1810. The 1,500 residents of Ronceverte take great pride in such landmarks as the Hokes Mill Covered Bridge, built in 1879, and the Ronceverte Train Depot, built in 1914, where more than 65,000 passengers passed through its doors the first year it opened.

History is still incredibly important to Ronceverte, and residents here have blended their historical customs with modern pleasures. Still a rich area for timber industry, Ronceverte is the southernmost point of the Appalachian Forest Heritage Program, an effort to integrate central Appalachian forest, culture, natural history, products, and forestry management into a heritage tourism initiative. Recognized by the National Trust for Historic Preservation with a “Main Street USA” designation, Ronceverte is tapping into its unique past to continue its grassroots-based economic development.

There are plenty of reasons to appreciate living in Ronceverte. Residents love the performances at The American Heritage Music Hall, where Tuesday night jam sessions and regularly scheduled guest performers showcase a mix of bluegrass, folk country, rock and roll and much more. The popular Ronceverte River Festival, the Riders of the Flood outdoor drama in September and Greenbrier’s oldest Christmas parade are just a few of the social and cultural opportunities that make Ronceverte a better place to call home than to just visit.

Looking for a place that has access to outdoor adventures? Then Ronceverte has everything excursion you can imagine available in this idyllic mountain town. Organ Cave, the second largest commercial cave on the East coast and a National Natural Historic Landmark, is a great place for regular explorations for the family. Fly-fishers delight at the access of Second Creek, which is stocked regularly for enthusiasts to enjoy. Residents also frequently visit the Ronceverte Island Park whose 20 acres on the Greenbrier River have something for everyone to enjoy.

If you are looking for a respite from the ordinary, Ronceverte homes are as distinctive as the beautiful views surrounding them.
