Even though the world news continues to report real estate foreclosures and a slow economy, Greenbrier County continues to show growth. The Department of Veterans Affairs announced they will be building a new community-based outpatient clinic in Lewisburg, West Virginia. The clinic is scheduled to be activated in the next 15 months.

This will be great for our community concerning new jobs and the service they will provide locally to our veterans.

WASHINGTON - The Department of Veterans Affairs announced on Thursday that it has plans to create 44 new community-based outpatient clinics in 21 states in order to bring more care to veterans. As part of this effort VA officials said some clinics will feature telehealth systems.

The clinics will be linked by a national health records systems to help veterans in remote areas receive access to VA facilities and practitioners across the country.

The new clinics are scheduled to be activated over the next 15 months and will increase the VA's network of independent and community-based clinics to 782.

VA officials say this increase in community-based clinics is helping it to provide prompt, quality care service to veterans, with 98 percent of veterans seen within 30 days in all types of VA primary care facilities throughout the country.

The telehealth systems that are frequently featured in the VA's outpatient clinics allow veterans to maintain regular contact with doctors in specialties from cardiac care to mental health at regional VA hospitals linked for video consultations, coupled with telemetry of health data or images.

The planned sites for the VA's new outpatient clinics are:
