Thursday, December 06 2012

Join us this First Friday, December 7, for the festivities!

Get into the true holiday spirit by supporting your community. The United Way of the Greenbrier Valley is partnering with the Greenbrier Valley Convention and Visitor's Bureau and First Energy to bring you the 3rd annual Holiday by Design Finale.

Enjoy refreshments and live holiday music from Tony Haworth from 5-7pm. You will have the opportunity to view and bid on the holiday inspired decorative items through a silent auction, with the proceeds benefiting United Way. Vote for your favorite large tree for $1.00 and be entered into a drawing for an IPad! Proceeds from the voting go directly to the Warming Hearts and Hands, a fund that provides emergency heating assistance for families.

Large trees will be available for purchase at a live auction event at 7pm.

Purchase a tree for yourself or donate it to a local non-profit organization. Cash, check or credit card accepted for all items.

The Greater Greenbrier Chamber of Commerce is pleased to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of Kitten’s Korner Gift and Custom Frame Shoppe with a Business After Hours on October 18.    Kitten’s Korner is located at 80 West Main Street in White Sulphur Springs and is owned by Ruth Burr Miller.

The gift shoppe business opened its doors in 1992 with the trio of Burr women at the helm- Ruth Burr Miller, Anita Burr Butts and Kitten Burr.   It later transitioned to include custom framing, along with its quality merchandise including Yankee Candle, Tervis Tumbler, Homestead Lighting, Fiestaware  and P.Buckley Moss prints.   “What a joy and blessing it has been to enjoy..and love your job!  The creative expression, interaction with people, independence, involvement with family, as well as being able to provide great products and services are some the wonderful parts of twenty years as Kitten’s Korner.  We pray that it is God’s will to sustain us to enjoy another twenty!  We want to express our gratitude to our many faithful customers”, asserted Ruth Miller.     Many local and regional artists’ work is also represented at Kitten’s.   The lower level of the shoppe will be open with items remaining  from Leisa Campbell’s Interior Design business.

The celebration will include champagne, cake and appetizers.   Business After Hours is a monthly event of the Greater Greenbrier Chamber of Commerce which showcases a member business and provides a great opportunity for networking.  To register for the event, please go to the Chamber website at www.greenbrierwvchamber.org and click on the event or call the Chamber at 304-645-2818.

Directions to the Dogwood Studio: Take 219 South past the Fairgrounds and the High School. In front of the hospital, the road fork, bear left on 219 S towards Kroger and Ronceverte. We’re next to Dr. Marshall’s dental office on the right hand side. It is a beige house that sits up from the road a little bit.

If you love golf or have a friend and/or relative who loves golf, get tickets to attend the Greenbrier Classic PGA Tournament, July 26 through August 1, 2010 and 30% of the ticket price can go to Habitat for Humanity of Greenbrier. Click the image to the left, choose your ticket package and designate "Habitat for Humanity of Greenbrier" from the drop-down list as the charity you wish to sponsor. It's that easy! All tickets also serve as passes for a major country star concert to be held on Wednesday night before the tournament. The performer hasn’t been announced yet, but we’re told that it will be someone who appeared on the recent Country Music Association (CMA) awards show. So help us enhance your PGA experience by sharing with a Greenbrier County family in need through Badges for Charity. This offer expires February 28, 2010, so please take advantage of this opportunity now. Thanks!
